Quiosc Mutant is an installation and publication project created for the Exposar · No exposar-se · Exposar-se · No exposar exhibition at the Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona. The project collects and reinterprets the processes of participating artists while showcasing the curatorial and mounting work, and the work the Mòniques, interdisciplinary groups who were for the first time developing research lines applied to the art center.

Spontaneous documentation (notes, sketches, photographs, tickets, screenshots, etc.) was collected and edited, together with purpose-made photographs of the exhibition space under construction, to build an installation and a modular publication that could grow over time. The installation and publication were created with the idea of evolving together as interdependent spaces. The editorial content was showcased on the exhibition space walls, and a foundational module of the publication was established, to which additional mini-publications or “grafts” could be added in due course. The publication’s design aimed to enable the public to personalize and construct the various components, by using different materials that were arranged on furniture in the exhibition space (covers, the body of the publication, annexes, and rings for binding). The installation included a wall for the public to answer the questions – “Why exhibit? Why not exhibit? Why expose oneself? Why not expose oneself?” – and the same post-its were included in the publication. The edition allows for different readings: a linear one, represented by the photographs of empty spaces under construction, interspersed with the messages left by the public on the post-its; a second one, provided by opening the fold-outs and discovering the documentation of the processes.

The installation was made in collaboration with Erica Volpini (Radial Radiant collective) and, in collaboration with the experimental editing group (Carlos Clemente and Estefanía Martín), three annexes were created to delve deeper into the work of three participating artists in the exhibition, highlighting a thematic axis.
